About you:

I'm Michelle. I'm 20 years old. I live in Lublin, in Poland. I take photos since 2009.

What is it that attracts you the most of what you have around you?

Silence, I guess. This is the only way I can think and concentrate.

Tell us about your experience as  photographer what did it give you?
I don't have much experience. I was learning by myself. Everything can be inspiring, you just have to be open-minded.

                 Three adjectives to describe yourself.

Calm, melancholic, introverted.

                A film, a book and a song

Pi (Darren Aronosfky), Millenium trilogy (Stieg Larsson), Lux Aeterna (Clint Mansell)

               Favorite web of photography

There are so many good ones, that I can't choose.

What camera do you use? Dou you use one lense?

I use two cameras. One digital - Canon 60 D and analogue - Canon AE 1.
I use two manual lens.

Tell about exhibition if you ‘ve had any.

I haven't had yet.

Do you sell prints? How do you make it and where can someone buy?

I sold twice. I had many prints after my photography exams, so I asked if anyone's interested.

What was your most big success?

Faith.

           Favourite photographer.

There are and were so many amazing artists, that I can't even tell about everyone. My favourite and my number one is Diane Arbus. She must have been such an interesting person! I also love photographies of Sally Mann, Henri Cartier-Bresson, James Nachtwey, Werner Bischof, Sarah Moon, Cathleen Naundorf and many more.

            Describe some of your projects

I go and take photos. It's about the moment. I must feel it with all my heart. Otherwise, I don't do it.

            Your main concept.

Silence and disorder in one moment.

What is your occupation, job, interest besides photography.

I'm studying something totally not connected with art. I hope that it will change.
I love reading books and watching good films. I'd like to travel more.

Which advice would you give someone who wants to become a (professional) photographer?

To do this the way we feel, the way we see it, not anyone else. Believe.

Do you work somewhere as photographer?

I didn't work as a photographer. I'm doing this right now, because I love it. Photography is the love of my life. I hope that someday things will change and I'll be able to work as a photographer. That's my biggest dream.

            Your plans.

Change studies. Pass photography exams next year. I'd like to travel more.
Stay open-minded. And take better photos.

Interview with photographer Camila Verdiyeva

What is it that attracts you the most of what you have around you?
Definitely people. And trees. And so many other things. Everything that attracts me eventually can be seen on my photographs.

Tell us about your experience as photographer. What did it give you?
For me photography is a great way to express myself in a visual form. It keeps me busy which is good. Even when I have a break from taking pictures I never stop learning and analyzing. Besides, I if weren’t into photography, I wouldn’t have met so many nice people.

How you found your first job as photographer/artist?
Funnily enough, I still haven’t found it.

Three adjectives to describe yourself.
Quiet, sincere, devoted.

A film, a book and a song.
Pirosmani by Giorgi Shengelaya, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, White Noise by Gaz Coombes.

Favorite web of photography.

What camera do you use? Do you use one lense?
I use different cameras, both film and digital. Mostly it’s my Kodak Star Motor or Zenit-E. I do have several lenses but my favourite lens is Helios 44-2.

Tell about exhibition if you’ve had any.
I had my first solo exhibition in April. It was very small but had a huge response in my hometown. It was called Insomnia, you can see the pictures on my website (http://cargocollective.com/camverdi/Insomnia)
There were 34 images and some of my tweets accompanied them to tell my story better. And my friends played beautiful songs at the exhibition opening. It was so weird and cool at the same time that so many people came to see my works.

Do you sell prints? How do you make it and where can someone buy?
I have a little print shop at http://camverdi.bigcartel.com/ You can buy a print from it or send me a link to an image you wish to buy.

What was your biggest success?
This must have been my exhibition because I had expected fewer people to come and see it. And there have been a couple of publications I’m really happy with.

Favourite photographer.
Anton Corbijn, Eva Vermandel, Anouk Kruithof, Alexander Gronsky.

Describe some of your projects.
Last year I worked on two projects with my friend Artem Zatsepilin. You can see them on our website (http://cargocollective.com/welovewillows)
In Transition we took portraits of people in their residential area to see the connection between a certain person and a certain place and to learn about their past and present.
As for You Are Only Human, this project was really spontaneous. There wasn’t any pressure on us because at first we made all those images just for fun so we did whatever we wanted. In a while we decided to turn this fun into a project which was important for both of us. It helped Artem and me to get to know each other’s photographic vision better because we talked and experimented a lot.

Your main concept.
To prove that you don’t have to smile all the time.

What is your occupation, job, interest besides photography.
I am a translator so I’m interested in languages and cultures. It is a job that allows you to learn something new every day.

Which advice would you give someone who wants to become a (professional) photographer?
Always remember that one person’s opinion is just an opinion and it is not a reason to give up what you love.

Your plans.
I’m going to continue my collaboration with СильверЫ (https://soundcloud.com/silveryband) to make more photos and probably videos for them. I also want to involve myself in a long-term photographic project as it will be another good reason to think about my photos more often.
