Interview with photographer Adrian López Peña

About you:
My name is Adrian López Peña, I am a 17 years old painter and photographer from Galicia, Spain.
My art is surreal and is very influenced by the philosophy and culture of the last century.
All Adrian López Peña photos are made with 35mm cameras.

What is it that attracts you the most of what you have around you?
The sea, particularly the Mediterranean Sea that gives color to the French coast and the parts of this world so               modernized that maintain that old environment similar to the streets of  Montparnasse in 1924.

Tell us about your experience as  photographer what did it give you?
I am a young photographer so I have not even the same experience as a professional photographer but I          made some photo sessions as fashion and studio photographer and I love the street photography too.
My lasts photograhic collections are "Blanc et Noir" and "La mer et ses habitants" both in black and white.
            Three adjectives to describe yourself.
               Genius, not very genius, cultural...

                A film, a book and a song
"Un chien andalou" by Luis Buñuel,  Maybe "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"  and "The Pianist", "El camino de Dali" de Ignacio Gómez de Liaño and   "La Solitude" by Barbara and "Spiegel im Spiegel" by Arvo Part.

What camera do you use?  lense?

             I use a Nikkormat Ftn with Nikkor-H 1:2 50mm lens.

Tell about exhibition if you ‘ve had any.
I had a booth at both shows of young artists and I made an exposition of photography in a local fashion store      and now expect me two photo exhibitions and one of painting.

Do you sell prints? How do you make it and where can someone buy?
Yes I sell them in my expositions and by contact me at
            You can see them at

What was your most big success?
My most big success maybe could be have decided to start painting about 2 years ago after having been all my life around the drawing, also buy in an antique shop my first analog camera a year ago.

           Favourite photographer.
Clearly, Man Ray and also Wilhelm Von Gloeden and Frank Eugene.

            Describe some of your projects
Nowadays I'm doing a cultural magazine with interviews with world famous artists and articles on art, fashion, music, literature and history also I am starting a new painting collection inspired by my recent visit to Cadaqués and I have on mind direct a short film about dreams and lots of new photographic collections.

            Your main concept.
My main concept could be capture that accurate moment when all seems special and old, when all seems as a  1920 photography.

What is your occupation, job, interest besides photography.
I am still student but I am working as photographer, painter and I made sculpture too.
I loves the classical music and the poetry.
Which advice would you give someone who wants to become a (professional) photographer?
I'm still trying to become one but I think you never reach a limit in both photography or painting, knowledge is infinite, there are millions of books that can power your future work, millions of places which can inspire you and you have to move a lot and always feel that illusion for what you do.

          Do you work as photographer?
I will work as photographer and painter as an artist in resume.

            Your plans.

Next month I travel to USA to study the last year before the college of fine arts, I am going to be there the whole year and I expect to expose there my art.
